Mayor Demmy Jackson is trying to keep the peace in Gutter Trash Alley.

Over the past week or so, a series of fires and other high-profile crimes have plagued the city. The latest fire at the city hospital also included an intense shootout where countless rounds of ammo flew through the area, forcing residents to run and hide.

Investigations are still ongoing, according to Mayor Demmy Jackson.

“I do not want the people to be alarmed,” Jackson said. “My administration and campaign was built upon fighting crime. The citizens know that I myself will and have gotten my own hands personally dirty to combat this epidemic of crime. So much so, that I personally have reduced the crime rate by nearly 80 percent prior to being elected.

“Regarding the shootout and fires,” she continued. “Without risk to the investigation and work alongside our brave and honorable men and women in uniform, I can wholeheartedly say that it is being investigated with the utmost importance.”

Those assurances don’t resonate with some residents. Many citizens have been rattled.

“The crime is really starting to worry me,” said one resident. who requested anonymity in fear of becoming a target. “They had to clear the hospital twice because of fires and gang activity.”

Mayor Jackson, however, assured the city that she is working extremely hard to keep everything safe. She said she doesn’t want people to be alarmed and that investigations are underway.

The big question people want answers to is who is behind this crime spree?

Some fingers are pointing to Los Muertos because a lot of green has been seen around the fires and at the shootout. Rey Latino, who has long been suspected as being the leader of the gang. He wouldn’t confirm if he was, indeed, associated with the gang.

He did say he witnessed some of the action at the hospital.

“All I saw were some men dressed in green bandannas and outfits coming out of those hospitals,” he said .”Could be gang activity. That’s all I can say.”

When pressed further about if it was Muertos or some other offshoot gang, he offered a smirk and said “Maybe it was. Maybe it wasn’t.. Come to your own conclusion.”

He refused to answer any more questions before he sped off in his bright green sportscar.

Mayor Jackson said if Los Muertos is behind these attacks, they will be dealt with.

“Well, I am pretty sure that Los Muertos knows not to appear too large, or large enough to appear on my radar,” she said, giving a very in-the-know smirk. “The leader personally knows my wrath and capabilities to put a gang beneath me..”

Other parts of the crime spree are current;y being hush-hush, including a turnover in the police department, and the overworked fire department. The city is trying to recruit new people for both departments to be able to keep up with everything.

Mayor Jackson noted that the recent departure of a couple of police officers seemed to be because of personal issues outside the department.

“From my understanding, one officer left for family reasons,” she said. “And the Department is always looking for not only new recruits, but also ways of improvements. When officers leave or are fired, this is only to make room for improvements. We as a society are doomed when we decide to stop advancing and grow comfortable.”

In regard to the fire department, Mayor Jackson says she has the utmost confidence that they are covering shifts well.

“I have extreme unprecedented confidence in Jamie, Dee Dee, and our community,” she said. “The high quality good out weighs the bad in town. But we are always recruiting in the fire department and police department, so if anyone is looking for a job as an officer in town they should speak with Michael Zero, and if someone is wanting a job in the fire department, they should speak with Jamie.”
